NEW YORK - BIG EAST Associate Commissioner Jennifer Condaras was recently named the recipient of the prestigious Frank Kara Leadership Award presented by Bluechip Athletic Solutions, as announced by the National Association for Athletics Compliance (NAAC). Condaras received her honor Monday in Orlando, Fla., at the NAAC Convention at the World Center Marriott Resort.

The Frank Kara Leadership Award is NAAC's most prestigious annual award and is named in honor of former University of Minnesota Director of Compliance, Frank Kara. Recipients display exceptional leadership and unique vision for compliance initiatives, as well as demonstrating a commitment to furthering the compliance profession through being instrumental in the revitalization of NAAC. It was first awarded in 2008.

"I am very honored to have received this award," Condaras said. "This is a very special award as Frank was a dear friend to so many in the compliance community and definitely a pioneer for our industry."

Condaras was named Associate Commissioner, Compliance and Governance at the BIG EAST Conference last September. Her primary responsibilities include coordination and administration of the conference's day-to-day compliance services for all 10 member institutions. In addition, she provides interpretative support and rules education to member institutions and is the Conference's liaison to the Senior Woman Administrators Committee. She served in a similar position with the American Athletic Conference from July-September 2013, and before that had served as an Assistant Commissioner for Compliance with the previous BIG EAST starting in 2005. Condaras transitioned to the conference office after serving as director of compliance at Georgia Tech from 2001-05. She is the chair of the NCAA Legislative Review and Interpretations Committee and is active with NAAC and the National Association of Collegiate Women's Administrators (NACWA).

Since 2001 Condaras has authored the Daily Compliance Item, which was created to provide helpful tips and articles associated with NCAA rules and regulations. The mailing list for the Daily Compliance Item exceeds 1,200 and is sponsored by JumpForward. The daily emails give NCAA professionals in all facets of the industry valuable, easy-to-follow explanations on the top compliance issues of the day.

NAAC is in its 16th year and serves as the professional and educational association of compliance administrators. NAAC is administered by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA), which is in its 49th year.
