Veitner, Upton, Miller Score Final Weekly Field Hockey Awards
New York – Connecticut’s Charlotte Veitner put up the highest single-game point total in the conference this year on her way to being named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week for the eighth week this season. Her teammate Roisin Upton earned Defensive Player of the Week honors, while Villanova’s Erika Miller was tabbed Freshman of the Week.

Charlotte Veitner, Connecticut, So., F
The sophomore put up four goals and notched an assist in UConn’s 8-0 besting of Georgetown. This was the seventh time in 2015 that Veitner has scored three goals or more. She finishes the regular season at the top of the conference in both goals (34) and assists (18).
BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Roisin Upton, Connecticut, Sr., M
Upton led the UConn defense to its 12
th shutout of 2015 and the Huskies head into the BIG EAST Championship having not allowed a single goal through five league contests.
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Erika Miller, Villanova, Fr., GK
Despite the loss, Miller put forth a strong effort in net against Temple, registering two saves as the Wildcats fell to the Owls in overtime 3-2.
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Alyssa Delp, Temple, Sr., F/M
Delp found the back of the net once and tallied a helper on the game-winning goal to give Temple the victory over Villanova and the No. 2 seed in the BIG EAST Championship.
Courtney Devine, Villanova, Jr., F
Devine scored both goals for the Wildcats against Temple to give Villanova a temporary lead.
Haley Mitchell, Temple, Sr., GK
The senior keeper recorded six saves during the Owls’ overtime win over Villanova.
Casey Umstead, Connecticut, So., F/M
Umstead picked up five points via two goals and an assist in No. 2 UConn’s triumph against the Hoyas.
