Crutchfield Wins Second Straight Female Golfer of the Month

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Xavier’s Shane Crutchfield won her second straight BIG EAST Female Golfer of the Month honor and Marquette freshman Oliver Farrell has been named BIG EAST Male Golfer of the Month for October.

Oliver Farrell, Marquette, Fr. – Farrell tied for eighth place at the Erin Hills Intercollegiate with a 1-under-par 215 over 54 holes (69, 73, 73) and was seventh at the Price’s Give ‘Em Five Invitational with an 8-under par 208 (72, 68, 68).  The Marquette team took fifth at Erin Hills and fourth at Price’s Give ‘Em Five.  Farrell shot par or better in four of the six rounds in the two tournaments.  His fall season concluded at the Gifford Collegiate where he shot 227. 

BIG EAST Female Golfer of the Month
Shane Crutchfield, Xavier, Sr. – Crutchfield recorded top-three finishes in two of her three events in October.  She tied for second individually at the Forest Oaks Fall Classic with a 1-over score.  At the Rutgers Invitational, she tied for third with a combined score of 10-over-par 226 (75, 69, 75) for 54 holes.  According to GolfStat, her stroke average of 75.38 leads all BIG EAST women’s golfers for the fall season.

Xavier Freshman Wetterich Continues Strong Fall Season
In October, Xavier freshman Daniel Wetterich placed in the top 15 in two of three events and recorded three rounds under par.  He helped the Musketeers finish fourth at the Firestone Invitational and fifth at the Crooked Stick Intercollegiate.  At Firestone, Wetterich tied for 12th individually, which included a 67 in the third round.  At the Crooked Stick, he finished tied for 10th.  For the fall season, his stroke average was 72.57.
 
Trim Leads Villanova Men
Villanova’s Lucas Trim had a strong October to finish an excellent fall campaign.  He won the Lehigh Invitational with a 36-hole score of 144, which was even par.  At the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate, Trim finished tied for 39th and a five-over-par score of 221.
