BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
Elise Wyatt, DePaul, Sr., F – Wyatt totaled 11 points over two games as DePaul put on an offensive display last week. The senior notched her first career hat trick against Eastern Michigan on Friday, scoring the game-winning goal before providing a pair of insurance scores. In the Blue Demons’ win over St. Francis (Pa.) on Sunday, Wyatt scored the second and third goals of the game before providing the assist on the final goal of the game. DePaul set a consecutive-game scoring record with 12 goals over two tilts.
BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Sarah Gorden, DePaul, Sr., D – Gorden anchored the stingy DePaul defense which held its two opponents scoreless and to just three total shots. Only one shot all weekend made it to the DePaul goalkeeper, while the Gorden-led defense did not allow a single corner over the two games. St. Francis (Pa.) was held without a single shot on Sunday as the Blue Demons outshot both opponents by a combined 52-3 margin, including 27-1 on net, while holding a 17-0 advantage in corner kicks. DePaul has allowed just one goal this season.
BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week
Diana Poulin, St. John’s, Jr., GK – Poulin was credited with back-to-back shutouts over the weekend, earning clean sheets at Syracuse and versus Colgate. The junior stopped nine total shots, including a season-high five against the Raiders on Sunday. St. John’s has yet to allow a goal this season, winning all four contests by a 1-0 margin. The Red Storm are the lone team in the BIG EAST to sport a 0.00 goals against average.
BIG EAST Rookie of the Week
Erin Scott, Creighton, Fr., GK – Scott went 2-0 on the weekend, including a 1-0 shutout victory over Central Michigan on Sunday. The rookie totaled just over 171 minutes in net over the two tilts, making 13 saves, including a career-high seven stops against CMU. Scott made six saves against Northern Illinois on Friday, playing 81:27 and not allowing a goal.
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Liz Bartels, Marquette, Jr., M/F – Bartels led the offensive effort in the Golden Eagles’ 3-0 win over a Boston University squad which finished 23
rd in the RPI in 2014 and earned an NCAA Tournament berth. Bartels scored the game-winning unassisted goal in the 20
th minute before providing the dish on the insurance score in the 56
th. Bartels totaled six shots and three points in the 1-1 weekend.
Kenadie Carlson, Xavier, So., F – Carlson totaled three points last week, assisting on the insurance goal against Toledo in the Musketeers’ 2-0 win before notching XU’s lone goal in a narrow 2-1 setback at Morehead State on Sunday.
Franny Cerny, DePaul, Fr., F – The DePaul rookie totaled four points off one goal and two assists in a 2-0 weekend. Cerny scored the Blue Demons’ second goal against St. Francis (Pa.) on Sunday before assisting on the third. The goal and assist were the first of her collegiate career.
Georgia Kearney-Perry, St. John’s, RS-Sr., D – Kearney-Perry helped stretch the Red Storm’s shutout streak to four games by denying Syracuse and Colgate from scoring over the weekend. The redshirt senior earned a spot on the New York Challenge Cup All-Tournament Team as St. John’s outshot its opponents in both games. Syracuse entered Friday’s match with the Red Storm with six goals on the season.
Shannon McDevitt, Butler, So., D – McDevitt anchored a Butler defense which was lights out last week as opponents were held scoreless and limited to just six total shots. The Bulldogs held Milwaukee without a single shot or corner in Sunday’s 1-0 win.
