Xavier, Providence Earn BIG EAST Men’s Soccer Weekly Honors

NEW YORK  –  The Musketeers went 2-0-0 this week including a win at No. 2 Notre Dame as Xavier had impressive play from all over the pitch. For their efforts, Xavier earned Offensive, Defensive and Goalkeeper of the Week honors. Rookie Brendan Constantine from Providence wins Freshman of the Week honors.
 
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jalen Brown, Xavier, Jr., MF, Indianapolis, Ind. –  Brown directly helped Xavier to their undefeated 2-0 week as he scored the game-winning goal at No. 2 Notre Dame on Tuesday, polishing off a loose ball in the 47th minute for his first goal of the year then assisted on  the gamewinner on Saturday against Bucknell.
 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Chris Moore, Xavier, RS-Jr., D, Louisville, Ky. – Moore played all 180 minutes in a 2-0 two shutout week for Xavier. Moore made a diving play to save a breakaway goal against Bucknell then later scored the game-winner again the Bison in the 53rd minute for the 1-0 victory. Against No. 2 Notre Dame, the defense allowed just six shots on goal, 13 shots total.
 
GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK
Dallas Jaye, Xavier, GS, San Ramon, Calif. – Jaye earned two shutouts in a 2-0 week for Xavier logging all 180 minutes in the net. Jaye made a career-high six saves in the win at No. 2 Notre Dame on Tuesday and one save over Bucknell on Saturday in a 1-0 victory over the Bison.
 
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Brendan Constantine, Providence, Fr., M, Glastonbury, Conn. – Constantine had an assist on the opening goal for Providence in a 2-1 victory over Northeastern. Constantine’s goal came in the 38th minute.
 
BIG EAST Men’s Soccer Weekly Honor Roll
Vincent Mitchell, Butler, Sr., M, Reckford Clarendon, Jamaica – Recorded six points as he scored all three goals in a 0-0-2 week for the Bulldogs. Down 0-2 to No. 22 Indiana, Mitchell netted two second-half goals to tie the game, which ended in a draw. He also scored the lone goal in Butler’s 1-1 draw at Loyola.
 
Fabian Herbers, Creighton, Jr., F, Ahaus, Germany – Assisted the gamewinner, the lone goal in Creighton’s 1-0 victory over Tulsa. Herbers ran down a 20-yard lead pass in the far right corner, dribbling down the endline past two defenders to center the pass for the game-winning goal.
 
Matthew Ledder, Georgetown, So., M, Falls Church, Va. – Came off the bench to register  four points with two assists in a 2-2 tie against VCU and the game-winning goal at West Virginia in a 3-1 victory.
 
Gabriel Camara, St. John’s, Sr., D, Atibaia, Sao Paulo, Brazil – Led a Red Storm defense that allowed just 11 total shots, six on goal, in two games. Camara’s defense allowed just one shot on goal against Siena as he helped on both sides of the field as he scored the game-winner against the Saints.
 
John Jlopleh, Villanova, Jr., F, Columbia, Md., -- Scored a pair of goals, including the game-tying goal against Stony Brook in the 69th minute, which helped the Wildcats to a 2-1 victory.
