NEW YORK  –  After the first weekend of league action Georgetown’s Alex Muyl and JT Marcinkowski earn BIG EAST weekly honors along with Jordan Stagmiller of St. John’s and Ruben Sanchez of Marquette.
 
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Alex Muyl, Georgetown, Jr., F, New York, N.Y. –  Muyl had a four-point week which included a goal and two assists. The junior forward’s goal in the 53rd minute broke the scoreless tie and gave Georgetown the first advantage in the Hoyas’  2-1 victory over No. 11 Maryland.  Muyl then had the assist on the game-winner in the 83rd minute, setting up Arun Basuljevic. On Saturday, Muyhl once again had a hand in the game-winner setting up Brett Campbell’s goal in the 64th minute.
 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Ruben Sanchez, Marquette, Fr., D, Franfort, Ill. – Sanchez, with only six career starts so far on this young season led a back line that did not surrender a goal in the team’s BIG EAST opening draw on the road against St. John’s on Saturday. Sanchez led a defense that allowed just four shots on goal.  
 
GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK
Jordan Stagmiller, St. John’s, R-Sr., GK, Avondale, Ariz. – Stagmiller made a career-high nine saves for the shutout in a 0-0 draw against Marquette. Stagmiller had 10 saves and a 0.58 goals against average for the week. The senior allowed one goal in a 1-1 tie against Quinnipiac.  
 
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
JT Marcinkowski, Georgetown, Fr., Alamo, Calif. – Went 2-0 in goal with nine saves for the Hoyas in a week that included a victory over No. 11 Maryland. Marcinkowski posted his second-career shutout against Providence with four saves between the posts. Against the Terps, the freshman had five saves, limiting Maryland to just one goal.
 
BIG EAST Men’s Soccer Weekly Honor Roll
Vincent Mitchell, Butler, Sr., M/R, Reckford Clarendon, Jamaica --  Scored two goals on two shots in Butler’s 3-0 win over Villanova. Mitchell scored his first in the 30th minute, the eventual game-winner, and added an insurance goal in the 70th.
 
Fabian Herbers, Creighton, Jr., M/F, Ahaus, Germany.  --  Had the game-tying penalty kick against Seton Hall and assisted on the first goal of the game.
 
Lucas Stauffer, Creighton, So., D, Owensboro, Ky.  --  Drew the foul in the box that led to Fabian Herbers’ game-tying 80th minute PK goal against Seton Hall. Stauffer then went on to score Creighton’s fourth goal of the day, sealing the victory.
 
Andres Arcila, Seton Hall, So., M, Cartagena, Columbia – Recorded five points (2g, 1a) on the week, scoring at Monmouth and against No. 1 Creighton. Assisted on the go-ahead goal in the 72nd before Creighton came back for a 4-2 win.  
 
Calum Lathan, Xavier, Sr., F, Springfield, Ohio – Scored the game-winner at DePaul, burying the golden goal in the 105th minute for his second goal of the year.
