New York – Villanova freshman Darby Goodwin and Seton Hall sophomore Noah Yanchulis have been named the BIG EAST Swimming & Diving Athletes of the Week.
BIG EAST Male Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week
Noah Yanchulis, Seton Hall, So.
Yanchulis picked up two individual first-place finishes and was a member of the Pirates first-place 200-medley relay as Seton Hall bested Iona last weekend. Yanchulis scored first in the 200-free with a time of 1:42.18 and the 200-breast in 2:10.58. This was the fourth meet of the season in which the sophomore netted multiple individual victories. The Pirates first win of 2016 was their fifth consecutive victory of the season.
BIG EAST Female Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week
Darby Goodwin, Villanova, Fr.
Darby Goodwin takes home Athlete of the Week honors for the third time this season thanks to a stellar outing at the Big Al Open back in December. The freshman was first to the wall in three individual races, winning the 200-IM with a time of 2:01.39, the 100-back in 54.69 and the 200-back in 1:58.90. Goodwin’s times in the 100-back and 200-back are both school records as well as NCAA “B” cut times. Her performance propelled the Wildcats to a third-place finish for the weekend.
