NEW YORK – The fourth episode of This Week In The BIG EAST Radio Show, distributed by Westwood One, launched on Jan. 14 with this week's guests Georgetown head coach John Thompson III, BIG EAST Commissioner Val Ackerman and FOX Sports and Westwood One analyst Donny Marshall.
The hosts for This Week In The BIG EAST are John Rooke, a well-known BIG EAST play-by-play voice for 27 years and Kevin McNamara, who has covered the BIG EAST for 25 seasons at the
Providence Journal and is a columnist for
Basketball Times. Rooke and McNamara give a comprehensive look at the teams, coaches, players and storied tradition of the top basketball conference in America in each episode.
The episode’s “Who’s Hot” segment features audio clips from some recent big performances around the league and a recap of the league’s weekly honors.
The BIG EAST Spotlight shines on Thompson who takes listeners through their inconsistent start and how the Hoyas have picked it up lately. Thompson highlights his young stars and his thoughts on how they need to come through for Georgetown to be playing into March. The BIG EAST Focus this week on is Commissioner Ackerman who gives her insight on where the league sits in its third year of the new configuration, both from a men’s basketball standpoint and across the other 22 sponsored sports. Giving the National Perspective this week is Marshall, as he gives his thoughts on the season thus far and who will be the team to beat Villanova. He talks on his predictions for potential Player of the Year candidates and March sleepers within the league.
