Butler and Seton Hall did not move up in the BIG EAST standings with their wins on Wednesday, but they did get back on track a little.  Marquette picked up a non-conference victory.

Butler had lost three of its last four before defeating DePaul 67-53 at Hinkle Fieldhouse.  Roosevelt Jones led the Bulldogs with 23 points and Kellen Dunham added 16 points.  A late first-half run gave Butler a 33-23 lead at halftime and the Bulldogs led until the final buzzer.

Eli Cain and Tommy Hamilton IV each scored 13 points for the Blue Demons.

St. John’s built an 18-10 lead in the first 10 minutes against Seton Hall at the Prudential Center before the Pirates countered with a 17-4 run and took control en route to a 79-60 victory.  The Hall had lost four of its last five games, though three were to ranked opponents.

The Pirates’ Isaiah Whitehead led all scorers with 19 points and Angel Delgado posted his ninth double-double with season highs of 15 points and 17 rebounds.  The Hall is 9-0 when Delgado gets a double-double.

Marquette got out of the gate quickly against Stetson with a 24-2 run before finishing with a 74-60 win.  It was MU’s final non-league game of the season.

Jajuan Johnson led all five starters in double figures by matching his career scoring high of 22 points.  Haanif Cheatham had 13 points and nine rebounds.  Henry Ellenson enjoyed his league-leading 12th double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.  It was the sixth time this season five Marquette players reached double figures.

BIG EAST action resumes with four games on Saturday and one on Sunday.
