NEW YORK – The fifth episode of This Week In The BIG EAST Radio Show, distributed by Westwood One, launched on Jan. 28 with this week's guests St. John’s head coach Chris Mullin, Xavier forward James Farr and
Cincinnati Enquirer writer Shannon Russell.
The hosts for This Week In The BIG EAST are John Rooke, a well-known BIG EAST play-by-play voice for 27 years and Kevin McNamara, who has covered the BIG EAST for 25 seasons at the
Providence Journal and is a columnist for
Basketball Times. Rooke and McNamara give a comprehensive look at the teams, coaches, players and storied tradition of the top basketball conference in America in each episode.
The episode’s “Who’s Hot” segment features audio clips from some recent big performances around the league and a recap of the league’s weekly honors.
The BIG EAST Spotlight shines on Mullin who gives us the inside look on how his players have responded to the slow start in conference play and his analysis on St. John’s “youth movement” with the eye of the Red Storm on the future. Mullin talks about his excitement for the possibilities that lie ahead. The BIG EAST focus is on senior James Farr who Rooke and McNamara have picked for the top candidate for the sixth man award. Farr gives fans his thoughts on Xavier’s play this season and his fellow BIG EAST opponents. From Cincinnati, Russell gives the media’s perspective on Xavier’s success and the contending teams in the BIG EAST at the halfway mark.
