Kendra Jones and Allison Schaefer earn the first BIG EAST weekly awards for Liberty

BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
Kendra Jones, Liberty, Fr., F
The rookie’s weekend was highlighted by a pair of game-winning goals as she guided the Lady Flames to a 2-0 week. In Liberty’s game against No. 20 American, Jones scored the game winner in overtime to give the conference newcomer’s first win over a top-20 team this season. The freshman maintained her momentum as she registered Liberty’s first goal in an 8-0 win over Georgetown.
 
BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Allison Schaefer, Liberty, Fr., GK
Playing over 140 minutes in the cage for the Lady Flames this weekend, the rookie goalkeeper recorded a win over a top-20 opponent and her first collegiate career shutout. In Liberty’s win over No. 20 American, the freshman made six saves to help the Lady Flames to a 2-1 overtime win. Against the Hoyas, Schaefer registered five saves for her first career shutout.

BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Barbara van den Hoogen, UConn, Fr., MF
Registering three points and four shots on the weekend, van de Hoogen helped No. 1 Connecticut improve to a 13-0 overall record. In UConn’s 6-0 win over Villanova, the freshman tallied her fourth goal of the season while earning her second assist of the season in the Huskies’ 9-2 victory over Dartmouth.

The sophomore recorded eight points on four goals against Villanova and Dartmouth.
Casey Umstead, UConn, Jr., D
Umstead tallied three goals and three assists for nine points this past weekend, to set her at 13 goals this season.
Megan Hamilton, Providence, Jr., M
Hamilton notched the game-winning goal in Providence’s 2-1 victory against Quinnipiac.
Rachel Mueller, Temple, Jr., MF
The midfielder scored the game-winning goal in overtime to lift Temple to a 2-1 upset win against No.13 Old Dominion.
Maddie Lilliock, Temple, Fr., GK
Lilliock earned her first career win over a ranked team, making nine saves to help Temple win 2-1 in overtime against No.13 Old Dominion.
