NEW YORK – The fourth weekend of BIG EAST volleyball action has Creighton leading the standings at 6-0 with Marquette and DePaul in second and third at 6-2 and 5-3, respectively but are both two games ahead in games played. Nine matches will be played over three days.
Creighton and Marquette are on winning streaks with the Bluejays having won their last six and Marquette their last four. Xavier is on a two-match winning streak.
Highlighting the BIG EAST schedule this weekend is a Villanova at Butler match on the BIG EAST Digital Network. Butler is 2-5 and tied for eighth in the league, while Villanova is 4-3 and tied for fourth. Players to watch in the match are Butler sophomore outside hitter Anna Logan and Villanova freshman setter Emma Decker. Butler has lost its last three league matches in five sets.
Five Named to Senior CLASS Award Final 30
Five BIG EAST volleyball student-athletes were named to the Senior CLASS Award final 30, tying for the most of all the conferences with the Big Ten:
Jess Bird, Creighton
Lauren Smith, Creighton
Meghan Niemann, Marquette
Tessa Fournier, Seton Hall
Abbey Bessler, Xavier
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities. The group of 30 will be narrowed to 10 on the official ballot.

In the latest AVCA poll released on Monday, Oct. 10, Creighton continues to receive votes.
RPI Breakdown:
In the second released RPI of the season, Creighton moved up six spots from 29 to 23. Marquette moved up three spots from 44 to 41. In third is Villanova at 56th, followed by DePaul at 67th. The rest of the teams are 100 or greater.
