St. John’s spoils DePaul’s perfect BIG EAST mark with 1-0 win.

Xavier 1, Villanova 0
Despite being outshot 21-13, Xavier scored its first BIG EAST win of the season, a 1-0 victory over Villanova on Saturday. Rachel Piccus and Toni Bizzarro each played a half in net for the Musketeers, making five and three saves, respectively. Samantha Dewey notched the game-winning goal in the 55th minute, burying an unassisted shot for her seventh of the season. Ida DiClemente had a game-high eight shots for Villanova, while Emily Harris made five saves. Nova and Xavier move into a three-way tie with Seton Hall in the standings, each with three points.

St. John’s 1, DePaul 0
Playing at Belson Stadium for the first time since being crowned the BIG EAST champion in 2014, DePaul entered the contest as the lone 5-0 team in the BIG EAST before the Red Storm defended their home turf and dealt the Blue Demons their first setback. DePaul controlled the ball for the majority of the game, outshooting St. John’s by an 18-3 margin as Diana Poulin made a season-high nine saves. Samie Scaffidi scored the game winner in the 75th minute for her third goal of the season. The shutout was Poulin’s 30th of her career. Abby Reed had a game-high six shots for DePaul, which remained in first place with 15 points.

Providence 1, Creighton 0 (OT)
Providence scored its second overtime win of the season, topping visiting Creighton 1-0 off Kathryn Hiller’s 99th minute golden goal. The Friars outshot the Bluejays 10-5, including 2-0 in the extra frame, while Kristyn Shea made two saves. Creighton’s Lauren Sullivan had a game-high four shots, but Providence kept her off the scoreboard for the first time in nine games. The Friars jumped into second place with 13 points, while Creighton dropped to fifth place with nine points.
