NEW YORK – Liberty’s Agueda Moroni is named offensive player and freshman of the week after putting up a seven point weekend and Providence’s Megan Guilbert claims defensive player of the week with her first career shutout in BIG EAST play.
BIG EAST Offensive Player and Freshman of the Week
Agueda Moroni, Liberty, Fr. MF
The freshman registered seven points with three goals and an assist for the Lady Flames this past weekend. Moroni scored Liberty’s first three goals in a 7-0 win over BIG EAST foe Temple on Friday, helping Liberty to earn the No.2 seed in the BIG EAST Championship. The midfielder also had an assist on Sunday in a loss to No. 18 Wake Forest.
BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Megan Guilbert, Providence, Jr., GK
Guilbert registered her first career shutout victory in BIG EAST Conference action this season and third career shutout in a 1-0 overtime victory against Old Dominion to close the regular season. She tied her career high in saves with eight, including two stops during the overtime session. The win clinched a spot in the four-team BIG EAST Conference Tournament. It also marked the Friars’ first-ever victory against Old Dominion, having lost the previous five meetings, including three-straight BIG EAST games since the Monarchs joined the league in 2013.

Anna Middendorf, UConn, Sr. MF
Middendorf helped No. 3 UConn to consecutive victories over Quinnipiac and No.12 Boston College with a goal in each game.

The freshman scored three goals for the No. 3 Huskies this past weekend, including two against Quinnipiac and one against No. 12 Boston College.
Erika Miller, Villanova, So., GK
Miller led Villanova’s defense with 19 saves in the final weekend of the regular season. The goalie registered 10 saves against Penn and nine saves in the Wildcat win over Georgetown.
Serena Barr, Liberty, Sr., D
The defender recorded a career-high in points in a single match, with two goals and two assists in Liberty’s 7-0 win over Temple. The senior also notched a goal against No. 18 Wake Forest.
Mary O’Reilly, Providence, Fr., M
O’Reilly scored her first career goal in a critical, 1-0, overtime victory against Old Dominion on Oct. 28. The win clinched Providence a spot in the BIG EAST Championship.
