First Round matches pit No. 5 seed Providence at No. 4 seed St. John’s, No. 6 seed Butler at No. 3 seed Georgetown.

Last Meeting: The Hoyas poured on the goals at home against the Bulldogs on Oct. 9, scoring a 5-0 victory, their largest margin in BIG EAST play this season. Redshirt-freshman Amanda Carolan and graduate student Crystal Thomas notched two goals apiece, with Grace Damaska getting in on the action as well. All five goals came in the first 45 minutes. Georgetown outshot Butler 10-3 in the lopsided affair, avenging 2015’s 1-0 loss to Butler.

Last Meeting: The two teams played just three days ago in Queens, with St. John’s scoring a 2-1 victory to jump the Friars in the standings and earn the right to host them on Tuesday night. Miranda Haraughty scored her first goal of the season for the Red Storm in the 15th minute before PC’s Kayla Steeves responded in the 53rd with the game-tying goal. Christina Bellero would provide the game winner in the 72nd minute. Diana Poulin made four saves in the winning effort while Kristyn Shea denied three shots for the Friars. Despite the longstanding history between the two foes, St. John’s and Providence have never met in the BIG EAST Championship.
