BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
Paige Monaghan, Butler, So., F
In a win-or-go-home game at Xavier, Monaghan scored back-to-back goals within five minutes of each other to give Butler a commanding 2-0 lead just 15 minutes into the contest. The Bulldogs went on to win 3-0 to punch their postseason ticket and earn a berth into the BIG EAST Championship.
BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Morgan Proffitt, Marquette, Sr., M
After DePaul controlled the ball much of the first half, Proffitt and the Marquette defense anchored down over the final 45+ to limit the Blue Demons’ attempts to just four shots and one corner kick, neither of which came in the extra frame. Proffitt also provided a bit of offense, scoring goals in the 42
nd and 79
th minutes as Golden Eagles topped DePaul in overtime, 3-2, clinching the No. 1 seed in the BIG EAST Championship and a share of the regular-season title.
BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week
Arielle Schechtman, Georgetown, So., GK
The Hoyas clinched the No. 3 seed in the BIG EAST Championship with a 3-0 at Creighton on Friday, with Schechtman keeping the Bluejays off the scoreboard. The sophomore keeper denied seven shots over 90 minutes to keep Georgetown unbeaten (8-0-1) on the road this season and sealing a BIG EAST Championship First Round home game for the Hoyas.
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Hannah Luedtke, Butler, R-Fr., GK
The Bulldogs trailed Creighton by two points in the standings entering Friday’s game at Xavier, needing a win or their season was over. Luedkte helped make that victory happen by not allowing a goal in 90 minutes, making five saves as Butler scored a 3-0 win and clinched the No. 6 seed in the upcoming BIG EAST Championship.
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Eli Beard, Marquette, Jr., M
Beard had the overtime heroics on Friday versus DePaul, scoring the golden goal just 57 ticks into the extra frame to earn the regular-season title share with the Blue Demons and claim the No. 1 seed in the BIG EAST Championship.
Rachel Corboz, Georgetown, Jr., M
Corboz sparked the Georgetown offense at Creighton on Friday night, totaling a goal and assist, including a dish on Grace Damaska’s game winner in the 23
rd minute.
Miranda Haraughty, St. John’s, R-Jr., F
Haraughty got the Red Storm on the board against Providence on Friday, scoring in the 15
th minute. The redshirt-junior missed all of non-conference play, scoring her first goal of the season against the Friars. The win clinched a BIG EAST Championship First Round home game for St. John’s, which it will host Providence once again.
Katie Martin, Villanova, Sr., F
Martin went out in style on Friday, notching a goal and assist in her final game at Villanova, one which the Wildcats beat Seton Hall, 2-0.
Emmalee Meyer, Villanova, Sr., GK
Meyer scored her first shutout of the year in the final game of the season, making five saves to keep Seton Hall off the board in 90 minutes of action, as Villanova won 2-0.
