MBB Minute -- Georgetown, Butler Roll To Saturday Victories
Georgetown and Butler cruised to Saturday victories to increase the BIG EAST’s record to 8-0 in the first weekend of the season.
The Hoyas scored 68 points in the first half in their 105-60 victory against USC-Upstate. Graduate transfer Rodney Pryor poured in 32 points in his Georgetown debut. He shot 13-of-16 from the floor, including 6-of-8 from 3-point range. He played only 30 minutes. It was the highest point total by a Hoya in his debut during coach John Thompson III’s tenure.
L.J. Peak led four other players in double figures with 14 points. Georgetown shot 66.7 percent from the floor.
Butler put together a dominant second half in its 89-52 win over Northern Colorado. After leading 41-31 at halftime, the Bulldogs outscored their opponent from the Big Sky Conference 48-21 in the second half. Kelan Martin posted team highs of 21 points and six rebounds in only 26 minutes. Tyler Lewis shot 7-of-7 from the floor and finished with 16 points. Freshman guard Kamar Baldwin added 11 points.
On Sunday, Seton Hall will become the first BIG EAST team to play two games when it hosts Central Connecticut at the Prudential Center at 2 p.m. ET. DePaul starts its season against Robert Morris at McGrath-Phillips Arena on the Blue Demon campus at 7 p.m. FS1 will televise both games.
