Creighton's Foster, Patton Take MBB Weekly Honors
NEW YORK – Creighton guard Marcus Foster has been named BIG EAST Player of the Week and teammate Justin Patton, a freshman center, has been named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week. Foster won MVP honors at the Paradise Jam tournament in U.S. Virgin Islands, scoring 25 points in the championship game. Patton averaged 14.0 points and 5.5 rebounds, while shooting 86.7 percent from the floor in a pair of victories.
BIG EAST Player of the Week
Marcus Foster, Creighton, G, Jr.
Foster averaged 20.5 points and 3.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week, which included taking MVP honors at the Paradise Jam. He began the week with 25 points in an 86-77 win over Mississippi in the Paradise Jam final. Foster followed that with 16 points in an 82-52 win against Loyola, Md. For the two games, he shot 60 percent (15-25) from the field and 50 percent (6-12) from 3-point range.
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Justin Patton, Creighton, C, Fr.
Patton averaged 14.0 points and 5.5 rebounds in a pair of Bluejay victories, while shooting 86.7 percent (13-15) from the field. He had 11 points in the victory over Mississippi in the final of the Paradise Jam. In the 82-52 triumph over Loyola, Md., Powell was 8-of-8 from the floor and finished with 17 points and six rebounds.
BIG EAST Honor Roll
Andrew Chrabascz, Butler, F, Sr.
Was named MVP of the Las Vegas Invitational with wins over Vanderbilt and No. 8/9 Arizona. In a 3-0 week, averaged 12.3 points and 7.0 boards. Posted 14 points and seven rebounds in the Arizona victory.
Billy Garrett Jr., DePaul, G, Jr.
Scored a team-high 23 points, including a buzzer-beating basket in a 68-66 win over Missouri State.
Rodney Pryor, Georgetown, G, Gr.
Had 26 points and 10 rebounds in a 65-61 victory over No. 13/12 Oregon. Averaged 20.3 points and 5.8 rebounds in a 2-2 week.
Haanif Cheatham, Marquette, G, So.
Averaged 21.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and shot 62.5 percent from the floor in a 2-0 week.
Rodney Bullock, Providence, F, Jr.
Averaged 18.3 points and 7.0 rebounds in a 2-1 week, which included a runner-up finish in the Emerald Coast Classic.
