After jumping into the Associated Press poll at No. 18 earlier in the day, Butler finished a three-game road trip with a 68-59 victory at Utah on Monday.  The Bulldogs handed the Utes their first loss of the season and their first home defeat to a non-league opponent in 33 games.

After building a 33-27 lead by halftime, Butler used a 9-0 spurt early in the second half to provide some cushion.  The Bulldogs led by as many as 17 points.  Kelan Martin led a balanced scoring attack with 18 points.  Tyler Wideman was 6-of-6 from the field and finished with 15 points.  Butler outshot Utah from the floor 52.8 percent to 36.5 percent.  Chris Holtmann is 52-22 (.703) as the Bulldogs’ head coach.

Of the 22 remaining undefeated teams in the nation, four are in the BIG EAST.  In addition to Butler at 7-0, Villanova, Xavier and Creighton are all 6-0.

Going into Tuesday’s action, BIG EAST teams are 45-15 (.750).

Tuesday’s BIG EAST schedule includes four games.  FS1 has a doubleheader with Xavier hosting North Dakota State at 6:30 p.m. ET and Creighton playing Buffalo at the CenturyLink Center at 8:30 p.m.  St. John’s meets Delaware State at Carnesecca Arena at 6:30 p.m.  FS2 will televise.  Villanova battles city rival Pennsylvania at the Palestra at p.m.  The game will be televised locally on CSNPhilly.
