BIG EAST Semifinal Notes
NEW YORK – The BIG EAST Women’s Soccer Championship, presented by Jeep, continues on Friday with the Semifinal round as top-seeded Marquette will face fourth-seeded St. John’s at 11:30 a.m. (ET), followed by second-seeded DePaul versus the host and third-seeded Georgetown at 2 p.m. The semifinals and final will all be played at the Hoyas’ Shaw Field in Washington, D.C. The BIG EAST Digital Network (BEDN) will provide complete coverage of Friday’s matches before FS1 takes over for Sunday’s title game.

Last Meeting: On a rainy October day in Milwaukee, the Golden Eagles scored a 2-0 win over St. John’s, with Morgan Proffitt providing the game winner in the 22
nd minute. Marquette is unbeaten this season when Proffitt has at least one point, combining for a 6-0-1 record, including her two-goal performance in Friday’s regular-season finale overtime win over DePaul. Maddy Henry made six saves for the Golden Eagles while Diana Poulin denied five shots for St. John’s. The Red Storm held a 12-10 advantage in shots but were held without a corner kick as Marquette totaled five.

Last Meeting: DePaul dealt the Hoyas their lone BIG EAST loss of the season, 4-1, on Oct. 23 in DC. Alexa Ben needed just 38 seconds to get on the board as the Blue Demons raced out to an early lead. Franny Cerny would provide the game winner in the 12
th minute. Georgetown threatened throughout, winning the battle of shots 10-7 and corner kicks 10-3, but could only beat Lauren Frasca once, who finished with four saves. Meaghan Nally had GU’s lone goal. The win clinched at least a share of the BIG EAST regular-season title for the Blue Demons for the second time in three years.
