BIG EAST Final Notes
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The BIG EAST Women’s Soccer Championship, presented by Jeep, concludes on Sunday at Georgetown when top-seeded Marquette faces the third-seeded and host Hoyas at 1 p.m. for the league crown. FS1 will provide complete coverage of the match, with Monika Moore and Bernie Guenther on the call and John Fanta on sideline. Sunday’s winner receives the BIG EAST’s automatic bid into the NCAA Championship.
Georgetown and Marquette have met just once before in BIG EAST postseason play – the 2012 title game played at Rentschler Field in East Hartford, Conn. The Golden Eagles came away with the 1-0 win that day for their first of two BIG EAST crowns. Marquette is 2-1 all-time in the championship match, winning the tourney in 2012 and 2013 while finishing runner-up in 2009; Georgetown is 0-2 in a pair of final appearances (2012, 2014).
