Seton Hall’s Tyler Kauth and Villanova’s Alexa Fabbri gain recognition for top times in the conference

NEW YORK – Seton Hall freshman Tyler Kauth and Villanova Sophomore Alexa Fabbri were named this week’s BIG EAST Swimming & Diving Athletes of the Week after leading their teams to winning weekends.

BIG EAST Male Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week
Tyler Kauth, Seton Hall, Fr.
Kauth won the 100 back in 51.90 and 200 back in 1:51.50 to help lead the Pirates to a 235-115 victory over Georgetown and a 217-129 triumph over Villanova at the Rutgers Quad Meet this weekend. He currently holds the best conference time in the 200 back. The freshman also swam the first leg for the winning 200 medley relay squad that completed the race in 1:33.59 and was the leadoff man for the 400 medley relay team that won in 3:26.16.

BIG EAST Women's Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week
Alexa Fabbri, Villanova, So.
Fabbri guided the Wildcats to a 3-0 performance against Rutgers, Georgetown and Seton Hall at the Rutgers Quad Meet. The sophomore was part of five first-place performances. Fabbri picked up individual wins in the 50-yard free and 100-yard free with times of 23.66 and 51.80, respectively. Her times in the 50 free and 100 free currently lead the BIG EAST. In addition to her individual efforts, Fabbri was part of the 200-yard free relay (1:35.01), 400-yard free relay (3:27.23) and 200-yard medley relay (1:45.26) that all took first place at the meet. 

Notable Performances
Sara Ouellete, Seton Hall, Fr.
The rookie placed fifth in the 200 backstroke at the Rutgers quad meet with a time of 2:05.21.
Katie Duncalf, Georgetown, Sr.
The senior helped the Hoyas to a win over Seton Hall by finishing second in a tight race in the 100-yard backstroke, while also placing third in the 200-yard backstroke.
Henry Hollinshead, Georgetown, Fr.
Hollinshead placed third in the 200-yard backstroke and fourth in the 100-yard backstroke. He also swam the opening leg for the fourth-place 400-yard medley relay team.
Jake Hoin, Villanova, Jr.
Hoim claimed the top spots in the 100-yard free and the 100-yard fly Rutgers Quad Meet with times of 46.34 and 50.55 respectively. He was also part of the 200-yard free relay that took first place with a time of 1:24.99.
Emily Conners, Xavier, Fr.
Conners picked up a pair of top-two finishes against Denison, winning the 100 free in a time of 52.89 and taking second in the 50 free with a time of 24.50.
Rodrigo Suriano, Xavier, Sr.
Suriano took the top spot in the 50 and 100 freestyle, setting the top times in the BIG EAST this season in both during the meet with Denison, touching the wall in 20.98 in the 50 and 46.04 in the 100.
