NEW YORK – Forward Charlotte Veiter was selected the Longstreth/NFHCA Division I Mideast Regional Player of the Year, as announced on Thursday. The junior’s honor marks the fourth-straight season that a Connecticut student-athlete has won the Mideast Region Player of the Year award.

Veitner is the all-time points leader for the Huskies, and ranked third in per game average for goals (1.13) and second in points (2.96) this season. She led the Huskies in scoring with 27 goals and 17 assists to reach 71 points on the season. Veitner scored the game-winning goal against Syracuse in double overtime in the second round of the NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship on Nov. 13 to send the Huskies to the national semifinals. She was named to the All-Mideast Region squad for the third year in a row and repeated as the Big East Offensive Player of the Year.

Overall, the Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association acknowledged five student-athletes. Joining Veitner in the national recognition was Delaware sophomore midfielder Greta Nauck (Mid-Atlantic), Albany senior midfielder Paula Heuser (Northeast), Virginia junior midfielder Tara Vittese (South) and Iowa senior forward Natalie Cafone (West).
