Creighton was the lone BIG EAST team in action Friday and the Bluejays had little trouble with Longwood, taking a 113-58 decision.  Khyri Thomas and Marcus Foster each scored 16 points.  Maurice Watson Jr. had 10 points and 11 assists for his fourth double-double of the season.  No Bluejay played more than 23 minutes.  Creighton is the first team in the nation to win 10 games.

There are plenty of compelling matchups Saturday on the BIG EAST schedule.  BIG EAST teams are 70-20 (.778) going into the day, which includes seven games, three against ranked opponents.

Saturday starts early with DePaul and Georgetown competing in the HoopHall Invitational in Miami, Fla. The Blue Demons take on Temple at 11:30 a.m. on ESPNU.  Georgetown will battle La Salle at 2 p.m. on ESPN2.

No. 1/1 Villanova meets No. 23/22 Notre Dame at noon in the Never Forget Tribute Classic at the Prudential Center.  CBS will televise.  Also at noon, FS1 has a tripleheader that begins with Providence hosting Massachusetts.  The battle between Marquette and No. 17/17 Wisconsin follows at 2 p.m. with No. 16/15 Butler hosting No. 22/23 Cincinnati at 4:30 p.m.

At 5:30 p.m., in the first of 13 regular-season games on the FOX broadcast network, No. 13/14 Xavier hosts Utah.

Sunday’s schedule has only one contest.  St. John’s plays LIU-Brooklyn at Barclays Center at noon on FS1.
