MBB Minute -- Seton Hall Hands South Carolina Its First Loss
Seton Hall, the only BIG EAST team in action on Monday, handed No. 16/15 South Carolina its first loss of the season with a 67-64 victory in Madison Square Garden in the Under Armour Reunion. It was the Pirates’ fourth straight win over an Associated Press ranked team.
Desi Rodriguez made the deciding basket with 11.6 seconds left. The Pirates had trailed 34-27 at halftime. Rodriguez finished with 16 points. Khadeen Carrington scored a game-high 21 points. Angel Delgado posted his fourth straight double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. The Hall (8-2) has won four in a row.
BIG EAST teams are 8-5 against ranked AP teams this season and own an overall non-conference record of 76-23 (.768).
Tuesday also has only one BIG EAST team in action as most schools are taking final exams. No. 1 Villanova plays the last of its Philadelphia Big 5 opponents when it hosts Temple at The Pavilion. FS1 will televise the game at 7 p.m. ET. The Wildcats have won 17 straight Big 5 games. Temple was the last team to beat Villanova, winning 76-61 on Dec. 5, 2012.
