Seton Hall (7-4) closed its non-league slate with a victory on Sunday afternoon, taking down Rider (7-3) by a score of 89-81. The Pirates got 19 points from both
Kaela Hilaire and
JaQuan Jackson in their highest scoring output of the season. In a strong offensive display for both sides, the Pirates shot a season-high 41 free throws and knocked down 32, including a 19-for-22 (86.4 percent) performance in the fourth quarter to help secure the victory. The Hall led by 11 at the break but a 22-11 edge for the Broncs in the third leveled the contest before the final quarter. In the fourth, a clutch late basket from Jackson before a series of Hilaire free throws helped close it out for the Pirates.

Creighton 80, Nebraska 64
Four Bluejays finished in double figures, led by a game-high 22 from senior
Marissa Janning, as Creighton (5-4) bested Nebraska 80-64 on Sunday. The first quarter saw the two squads feel each other out as both the Huskers (4-7) and the Bluejays held small leads, yet Nebraska held a 15-14 edge at the break. After giving up the first bucket of the second, the Bluejays took control with a 19-4 run over the next seven minutes. Possession and free throws helped Creighton push to a 44-28 advantage at the half. After outscoring Nebraska 30-13 in the second quarter, the Bluejays continued to fire away from long range in the third period as Creighton hit 6-of-13 from long range in the third to maintain a double-digit lead for their fifth victory of the season.

No. 17/16 DePaul 107, Loyola 46
No. 17/16 DePaul used a balanced attack in its 107-46 win at Loyola on Sunday. The Blue Demons ended their two-game skid, improving to 7-4 while Loyola fell to 1-9 on the season. Amarah Coleman and Kelly Campbell led seven Blue Demons in double figures with 16 points each. Jacqui Grant and Brooke Schulte each added 15 and Jessica January finished 12 as all five Blue Demon starters reached double-figures for the first time this year. The Blue Demons dished out 35 assists which is the second-most in school history. January, who played just 22 minutes led DePaul with nine assists while Campbell, who got her second career-start, dished out eight. The Blue Demons stingy defense did not allow the Ramblers to even attempt a field goal in the opening 1:48 of the contest and led 8-2 when Loyola scored its first points with 7:44 to play in the first. The Blue Demons continued its pressure packed and full-court defense into the second quarter, forcing the Ramblers into 20 first-half turnovers. Leading 58-25 at the half, the Blue Demon lead did not dip below 32 points the rest of the way. DePaul’s largest lead of the game was 107-45 with 24 seconds to play.

Marquette 85, Milwaukee 74
Six Golden Eagles scored in double figures as Marquette held on for an 85-74 victory over cross-town foe Milwaukee Sunday at the Al McGuire Center. Natisha Hiedeman led all scorers with 18 points, followed by Allazia Blockton with 13, Erika Davenport and junior Shantelle Valentine with 12 apiece and McKayla Yentz and Amani Wilborn with 11 points each. In the first quarter, Yentz paced MU with 3-for-4 shooting from the floor, including going 2-for-3 from beyond the arc. In that second quarter, Marquette shot 50 (5-10) percent from three-point range and scored 24 points on fast breaks, holding Milwaukee to just two points in the same category. Milwaukee (8-3) crawled back late in the third quarter to cut the deficit to single digits, led by Jenny Lindner (17 points, six rebounds) and Steph Kostowicz (17 points, six rebounds), but Marquette held onto the lead through the fourth quarter as the Golden Eagles went on a 13-0 run and held the Panthers to just 11 points in the fourth frame, winning the game 85-74.
