Creighton senior and St. John’s rookie claim their first certificates of the year.

BIG EAST Player of the Week
Marissa Janning, Creighton, Sr., G
In the Bluejays’ lone game of the week, Janning sparked an 80-64 win over rival Nebraska on Sunday afternoon with game highs of 22 points and nine assists. The senior was hot from deep, sinking a career-high seven three-pointers to set a DJ Sokol Arena record for made triples. Janning’s 22 points were a season-high for the senior, while the nine dimes matched a season best. Janning added four boards and two steals as Creighton halted Nebraska’s three-game win streak over the Bluejays in the annual rivalry game. This is Janning’s first BIG EAST Player of the Week certificate of the season and third of her career.

BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Alisha Kebbe, St. John’s, Fr., G
Kebbe helped the Red Storm to back-to-back victories this week, stretching their win streak to five games. In Tuesday’s win at Fordham, Kebbe totaled 16 points off 7-of-13 shooting while snagging seven boards in 28 minutes of play. The rookie followed that showing up with nine points and two rebounds in just 16 minutes of action in Saturday’s lopsided win over Wagner. For the week the freshman guard averaged 12.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and .611 shooting while not committing a single turnover in 44 total minutes played. This is Kebbe’s first BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honor and the first for a St. John’s player since Aaliyah Lewis was recognized on Dec. 2, 2013.
