Creighton's Foster, St. John's Ponds Earn MBB Weekly Honors

NEW YORK – Marcus Foster of Creighton has been named BIG EAST Player of the Week and Shamorie Ponds of St. John’s has been selected BIG EAST Freshman of the Week.  Both players, who led their teams to impressive road victories, were honored for the second time this season.

BIG EAST Player of the Week
Marcus Foster, Creighton, G, Jr.
Foster scored a game-high 29 points in the Bluejays’ 96-85 win at Arizona State.  He shot 10-of-18 from the floor and added four rebounds, three assists and two steals.  Foster scored 17 of his 29 points in the second half, including the team’s final four points from the line to hold off an ASU rally.  For the season, Foster is averaging 18.2 points per game.
 
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Shamorie Ponds, St. John’s, G, Fr.
Ponds was a critical contributor in helping St. John’s hand Syracuse its largest margin of defeat in the history of the Carrier Dome, 93-60.  Ponds posted 21 points, seven assists, six rebounds and four steals while not committing a turnover.  For the season, Ponds is averaging a team-leading 17.2 points per game along with 5.5 rebounds and 3.7 assists.
 
BIG EAST Honor Roll
Andrew Chrabascz, Butler, F, Sr.
Scored a season-high 28 points on 12-of-18 shooting in an 81-69 win against Vermont.     
Jessie Govan, Georgetown, C, So.
Posted 20 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and four blocked shots in a 78-56 victory against UNC-Greensboro.
Haanif Cheatham, Marquette, G, So.
Averaged 18.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists in a 2-0 week.  Shot 63.6 percent from the field and 50.0 percent from the 3-point line.
Angel Delgado, Seton Hall, F, Jr.
Posted his sixth straight double-double with 19 points and 16 rebounds in a 72-61 win against Rutgers.  Had 15 points to lead a second-half rally.    
Josh Hart, Villanova, G, Sr.
Had 20 points, seven rebounds and three assists in a 90-48 victory over American.
