Seton Hall earns second win over ACC foe with 70-63 victory over Wake Forest.

 
Seton Hall 70, Wake Forest 63
Rallying from a double-digit halftime deficit, Seton Hall knocked off Wake Forest 70-63 on Sunday at Walsh Gymnasium. Lubirdia Gordon set a career high with 15 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, while LaTecia Smith also set a personal best with a game-high 19 points. After a slow shooting start and a turnover-riddled first half, the Pirates trailed by as many as 16 in the first quarter and were down 32-21 at halftime. The Hall stormed back emphatically with a huge third quarter and held on with some clutch free throw shooting in the fourth quarter. After turning the ball over 19 times in the first half, The Hall gave it up only four times in the second while forcing a total of 28 Wake Forest turnovers.

Ball State 74, Butler 50
Ball State outscored Butler 42-23 in the second half on Sunday afternoon to record a 74-50 victory. A full-court press helped cause 28 BU turnovers leading to 28 Ball State points. The Cardinals improved to 5-2 on the year while the Bulldogs drop to 2-6. Butler opened with a 7-0 run in the first half to earn a one-point first quarter lead, but the Cardinals would take care of business in the second frame, taking an 18-12 advantage. Ball State ultimately used 13 free throws, nine 3-point field goals and 26 made field goals overall to claim the victory. Sophomore Tori Schickel led Butler in the losing effort with 17 points and nine rebounds. She was the only Bulldog to reach a double figure scoring total.

Georgetown 54, University of Delaware 46
Georgetown (6-2) slowed a fourth-quarter comeback to pick up the 54-46 victory at Delaware (5-3) on Sunday. Dionna White led the way for the Hoyas with 18 points as the lone GU player in double figures while Faith Woodard pulled in a team-best nine rebounds. The Hoyas pulled down 46 rebounds to Delaware’s 43, and shot 30.8 percent (20-of-65) from the field, while the Blue Hens shot 27.8 percent (15-for-54) from the field. Georgetown forced 15 turnovers on 11 steals. Georgetown started slow on offense, but back-to-back 3-pointers from Dorothy Adomako and White gave GU the 9-8 lead midway through the first quarter. Georgetown started the second half ice cold going 0-for-6 in the opening five minutes and allowing Delaware to pull within three, 28-25. Jones hit a jumper at 5:03 to end the drought as GU fought back.  A big 3-pointer from Woodard and a pair of White throws down the stretch would end the game as the Hoyas hung on for the 54-46 victory.

Brown 77, Providence 70
Providence (7-1) fell to Brown, 77-70, on Sunday in the championship game of the Ocean State Tip-Off Tournament in Providence, R.I. Jovana `Yoyo' Nogic led the Friars with a game-high 22 points in the effort. The Friars trailed 12-6 with 5:25 on the clock in the first quarter, but Providence (5-3) closed the quarter with a 16-2 run to take a 22-14 lead. However, Providence wouldn’t keep the advantage as Brown outscored the Friars 20-7 overall in the second frame and took a 34-29 lead into halftime. In the second half, Providence battled back to a 52-51 lead with 8:04 remaining in regulation. Brown responded with a three-pointer on the other end to retake the lead, which it would not relinquish the rest of the way. Providence pulled within one (60-59) with 4:01 left in the game, but Brown’s Taylor Will converted a traditional three-point play on the other end of the floor to help Brown maintain control.
