BIG EAST teams put together a 5-0 record on Tuesday to improve the league’s non-conference record to 66-18 (.786).

Playing its first game after being voted No. 1 in the polls on Monday, Villanova knocked off La Salle 89-79 at The Palestra.  Jalen Brunson scored a season-high 26 points and Josh Hart added 21 points and eight rebounds.  The win was Villanova’s 17th straight against Philadelphia Big 5 opponents.

Marquette built a 22-point lead in the first half against Fresno State, but had to subdue a late rally before winning 84-81.  Freshman Sam Hauser led five Golden Eagles in double figures with 19 points.  Luke Fischer helped with 18 points.  Marquette has won five in a row.
Providence got out of the gate quickly against Brown, taking a 20-3 lead.  The Friars were not threatened in a 95-57 victory.  Emmitt Holt shot 9-of-10 from the floor en route to a game-high 20 points.  Rodney Bullock and Jalen Lindsey each added 16 points.

Seton Hall won its first game in the Pearl Harbor Invitational, taking a 68-57 decision from Hawaii.  Khadeen Carrington scored 19 points, while Angel Delgado registered his fourth double-double of the year with 16 points and 14 rebounds.

DePaul got back on the winning track with an 80-61 victory over Lamar at Allstate Arena.  The Blue Demons got a good chunk of their scoring from guards Eli Cain (21 points), Billy Garrett Jr. (15) and R.J. Curington (11).
