NEW YORK – Seton Hall guard Isaiah Whitehead has been named BIG EAST Player of the Week and Marquette forward Henry Ellenson has been selected BIG EAST Freshman of the Week.  Whitehead helped the Pirates to a 2-0 week by averaging 20.5 points in the two league victories.  Ellenson takes Freshman of the Week honors for the fifth time this season and third in the last four weeks.  He had 32 points, 10 rebounds and six blocks in a win against Butler.
 
BIG EAST Player of the Week
Isaiah Whitehead, Seton Hall, G, So.
Whitehead led the Pirates to a 2-0 week by averaging 20.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists, while shooting 50 percent from the field.  In a 75-65 win at Creighton, he scored 17 of his game-high 22 points in the second half.  Whitehead has had at least 15 points and five assists in six of the nine conference games.  For the season, Whitehead ranks sixth in the BIG EAST in scoring with a 16.0 average and fourth in assists with a 4.5 mark.


 
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Henry Ellenson, Marquette, F, Fr.
For the fifth time this season, Ellenson has earned Freshman of the Week honors.  He poured in 32 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and blocked six shots. in a 75-69 win over Butler.  His point total was tied for the second highest in a league game this season.  He also had 12 points and 11 rebounds in a 74-60 win over Stetson.  For the season, Ellenson ranks fourth in the BIG EAST in scoring with a 16.3 average and first in rebounding with a 10.0 mark.

Roosevelt Jones, Butler, G, Sr.
Averaged 19.0 points in a 1-1 week and scored a season-high 23 points in a 67-53 against DePaul.
 
Kris Dunn, Providence, G, Jr.
Averaged 21.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 5.5 steals and 4.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week.
 
D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera, Georgetown, G, Sr.
Averaged 18.5 points, 4.0 assists and 3.0 boards in a 1-1 week.  Made two free throws with 6.3 seconds left in a 74-73 win over Creighton.   
 
Josh Hart, Villanova, G, Jr.
Posted 16 points, 11 rebounds and three steals in a 68-53 victory at St. John’s.
 
Jalen Reynolds, Xavier, F, Jr.
Averaged 12.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in a pair of road wins.  Posted 15 points and a game-high 11 rebounds in a 75-68 win at Providence.
