NEW YORK – Maurice Watson Jr. of Creighton and Henry Ellenson of Marquette are the BIG EAST weekly awards winners.  Watson Jr. has been named BIG EAST Player of the Week for the second time this season.  Ellenson has been chosen BIG EAST Freshman of the Week for a sixth time.
 
BIG EAST Player of the Week
Maurice Watson Jr., Creighton, G, Jr.
Watson Jr. averaged 25.0 points, 7.5 assists, and 6.0 rebounds, while leading the Bluejays to a 70-56 win over No. 5/4 Xavier and a 65-62 triumph at Marquette.  Against Xavier, the junior guard posted 32 points, seven rebounds and five assists.  He followed that with 18 points and 10 assists at Marquette, his third double-double of the season.  In league games, Watson Jr. is sixth in the league in scoring (17.4) and first in assists (6.8).


 
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Henry Ellenson, Marquette, F, Fr.
Ellenson earns Freshman weekly honors for the sixth time this season, tying the fourth highest total in league history.  The 6-11 forward averaged 21.0 points and 12.0 rebounds in a 1-1 week.  With 26 points and 16 boards in a 96-91 double OT win against No. 20/T17 Providence, Ellenson posted his league-leading 15th double-double.  He ranks fourth in the BIG EAST in scoring at 16.6 and first in rebounding at 10.1.


   
BIG EAST Honor Roll
Kelan Martin, Butler, F, So.
Recorded two double-doubles in a 1-1 week.  Had 23 points and 10 rebounds in a win at Seton Hall.  Averaged 19.0 points and 11.0 rebounds.
 
Isaac Copeland, Georgetown, F, So.
Averaged 17.5 points and 4.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week.  Had 23 points and eight rebounds in victory over St. John’s.
   
Ben Bentil, Providence, F, So.
Scored 42 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in a double-overtime loss at Marquette and averaged 29.0 points and 10.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week.
 
Isaiah Whitehead, Seton Hall, G, So.
In only game of the week, scored a career-high 26 points and dished 10 assists in a loss to Butler.  Shot 7-of-9 from 3-point range.
 
Daniel Ochefu, Villanova, F, Sr.
Had a career-high 25 points in a win over St. John’s and averaged 18.0 points and 7.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week.
