Marquette freshman sparks 2-0 weekend with back-to-back double-doubles.

Allazia Blockton, Marquette, 6-0, Fr., G
In a 2-0 weekend for the Golden Eagles, Blockton averaged 19.5 points, 12.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists in victories over Butler and Xavier. She was the league’s top rebounder last week, bettering teammate McKayla Yentz’s No. 2 average by three boards per game, while also listing fourth in scoring. Against Butler on Friday night, Blockton totaled 21 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and three steals before going for 18 points, 13 rebounds and five dimes in a nationally televised win over Xavier on Sunday. For the week she shot 50 percent from the field and 60 percent from deep. Blockton has a BIG EAST-best 10 double-doubles so far while her 13 20-point games and 10 double-digit rebounding performances are also tops in the conference. With three games remaining, Blockton is 44 points shy of the BIG EAST freshman scoring record which has stood since 1994-95. This is her seventh BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honor and first Player of the Week certificate.

Sarah Beal, Providence, 5-8, Jr., G
Beal led four Friars in double figures with 13 points as PC snapped its 13-game skid with a win over Creighton on Sunday. The junior sank a pair of clutch free-throws with 32 seconds left to push the Friars’ lead back up to two possessions. She also added four dimes, three steals and three boards.
Danaejah Grant, St. John’s, 5-9, Sr., G
Grant notched back-to-back 20-point games in a crucial weekend series against Villanova and Georgetown. The senior led all scorers in both games, going for 22 points in the setback to the Wildcats on Friday night before cooling the hot Hoyas with a game-high 20 points in the win. For the week she shot .552 to go along with 6.0 rebounds
Blaire Langlois, Butler, 5-8, Sr., G
Langlois was one of the top scorers last week, averaging 21.5 points on .484 shooting in a difficult road swing at Marquette and 23/23 DePaul. She scored 24 against the Golden Eagles and 19 against the Blue Demons, both game highs.
Alex Louin, Villanova, 6-0, So., G
In a challenging road swing for the Wildcats, Louin averaged 15.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists. In Friday’s win at St. John’s, Louin scored 18 points and grabbed five boards.
Ashton Millender, DePaul, 5-8, So., G
Millender came off the bench in both DePaul wins over the weekend, scoring 15 points in each victory over Xavier and Butler. She shot .733 for the week and .667 from deep while average 2.5 rebounds per contest as well.
Tabatha Richardson-Smith, Seton Hall, 6-0, Sr., F
In a crucial win over Villanova on Sunday, Richardson-Smith became Seton Hall’s all-time leading scorer with her game-high 27 points. In her four-year career the forward has amassed 1,810 points to snap the previous record set by Geraldine Saintilus of 1,804 in 1985-89.
