NEW YORK – Butler sophomore forward Kelan Martin has been selected BIG EAST Player of the Week and Xavier freshman guard Edmond Sumner has been tabbed BIG EAST Freshman of the Week.  Both players helped their respective teams to 2-0 weeks.  Some of their accomplishments include Martin scoring 35 points in a win over Georgetown and Sumner recording 20 points in a victory against Marquette.

Kelan Martin, Butler, F, So.
Martin helped the Bulldogs to two wins by averaging 27.5 points, 6.5 assists and 2.5 blocks.  He scored 35 points -- the most points by a player in a league game this season -- grabbed eight rebounds, and blocked four shots in an 87-76 win over Georgetown.  He followed that with 18 points and five boards in a 79-45 victory at St. John’s.  For the year, Martin is averaging 15.8 points and 6.3 rebounds.
 
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Edmond Sumner, Xavier, G, Fr.
Sumner takes Freshman of the Week honors for the fourth time this year after averaging 15.0 points, 4.5 assists and 2.0 steals in a 2-0 week for the Musketeers.  He scored 20 points and dished four assists in a 90-82 win over Marquette.  He had 10 points, four assists and three rebounds in a 90-83 win against St. John’s.  For the season, Sumner is averaging 10.9 points and 3.4 assists.
   
BIG EAST Honor Roll
Roosevelt Jones, Butler, G, Sr.
Posted the 15th triple-double in league history with 10 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists at St. John’s.  Had 19 points, six boards and five assists in a win against Georgetown.
 
Myke Henry, DePaul, F, Sr.
Averaged 24.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week.  Shot 57.1 percent from the floor.  Had 27 points and 11 boards in a win over Providence.   
 
Angel Delgado, Seton Hall, F, So.
Had 19 points and 13 rebounds in each game of a 2-0 week.  Shot a combined 76.2 percent from the field.
 
Darryl Reynolds, Villanova, F, Jr.
Averaged 11.5 points and 11.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week.  Had a career-high 19 points in a win at Providence.
 
Trevon Bluiett, Xavier, G, So.
Averaged 19.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists, while only committing one turnover in a 2-0 week.
