NEW YORK  –  Denver men’s lacrosse freshman goaltender Alex Ready has been named the USILA/Lids Team Sports Division I National Defensive Player of the Week, the USILA announced on Wednesday. Ready made a season-high 14 saves in the victory, also earning BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week honors on Monday.

Ready’s award comes a day after the NCAA tabbed the [1/1] University of Denver the NCAA.com Men’s College Lacrosse Team of the Week after its 9-8 overtime win at [2/1] Notre Dame on Sunday. Denver was voted the unanimous No. 1 team in both major polls on Monday.

Ready was also honorable mention for player of the week on NCAA.com.

Denver stretched its winning streak to 19 games after Sunday’s win, with its last loss coming on March 14, 2015 at Ohio State. The Pioneers defeated the Buckeyes in the NCAA Quarterfinals at Sports Authority Field last May for their 11th-straight win, and will take on OSU Saturday at 1 p.m. MT at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium. The game will be broadcast on FOX College Sports Atlantic. Check local listings.

Ready is the second player from the BIG EAST to be named a national player of the week. On March 2, Villanova’s Jake Froccaro was National Offensive Player of the Week.
