NEW YORK – For the first BIG EAST Outdoor Track & Field weekly honors, DePaul student-athletes represent three of the four honorees. Blue Demons Sebastian Feyersinger, Brian Mada and Tayler Whittler earn accolades, while Marquette’s Terica Harris was also honored.
 
 
BIG EAST Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
SEBASTIAN FEYERSINGER, DePaul, So., Sprints
Sebastian Feyersinger opened the season at the 49er Classic (March 17) with a personal best in the 400-meter dash at 47.69. His time set the BIG EAST standard early and also ranks 27th in the West Region and 50th in the NCAA. He followed up his performance in Charlotte, N.C. with two runner-up finishes at the Black & Gold Invitational for the 200-meter and 400-meter dashes. The sophomore set a new PR in the 200-meter with a time of 21.57, which ranks first in the league and 60th in the West Region.
 
BIG EAST Men’s Field Athlete of the Week
BRIAN MADA, DePaul, Fr., Jumps
Brian Mada made his outdoor debut at the 49er Classic (March 17) and recorded a 15.25 meter mark in the triple jump, placing third. His performance sits atop the BIG EAST rankings by five feet. His mark ranks 26th in the country and ninth in the West Region.
 
BIG EAST Women’s Track Athlete of the Week
TAYLER WHITTLER, DePaul, Sr., Sprints
Tayler Whittler recorded times of 11.62 in the 100-meter and 23.57 (wind-aided) in the 200-meter events at the 49er Classic (March 17). Whittler’s 100-meter time is first in the BIG EAST, 17th highest in the West Region and 31st nationally. Whittler is the only student-athlete to break the 12-second threshold in the conference. Her 200-meter time at the 49er class was an event win for the senior and ranks tops in the BIG EAST, 29th in the West Region and 53rd nationally. Whittler also won the 200 at the Vanderbilt Black & Gold Invitational (March 25).
 
BIG EAST Women’s Field Athlete of the Week
TERICA HARRIS, Marquette, So., Jumps
Terica Harris made her season debut at the USF Bulls Invitational (March 17) winning the long jump with a personal best mark of 5.78 meters (18 feet, 11.75 inches). The jump ranks as the fifth longest jump all-time at Marquette and set an early BIG EAST standard for the season. Her distance is also 34th in the West Region and 67th nationally. Harris also competed in the triple jump. Her distance was second in the league two weeks into the season.
