Providence's Bentil, Marquette's Ellenson Take MBB Weekly Honors

 NEW YORK – For the last set of weekly men’s basketball honors for the 2015-16 season, Providence’s Ben Bentil has won BIG EAST Player of the Week honors and Marquette’s  Henry Ellenson has been selected BIG EAST Freshman of the Week.  The Player of the Week award is the third this season for Bentil, while Ellenson takes Freshman honors for the eighth time this season. 
 
BIG EAST Player of the Week
Ben Bentil, Providence, F, So.
Bentil averaged 25.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists in a 2-0 week with double-doubles in both contests.  In a 70-66 win over Creighton, the sophomore scored 27 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.  He followed that performance with 23 points, 10 boards and five assists in a 90-76 win at St. John’s.  Bentil won the BIG EAST scoring crown, averaging 22.9 points in league games.  Bentil also ranked first in scoring in all games with a 21.2 average and is fifth in rebounding at 7.8. 
 
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Henry Ellenson, Marquette, F, Fr.
Ellenson has been named Freshman of the Week for the eighth time this season.  He averaged 19.5 points and 9.5 rebounds, while shooting 53.6 percent from the field and 81.8 percent from the free throw line in a 1-1 week.  He collected his 17th double-double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds in an 88-87 win over Georgetown.  Ellenson scored a game-high 29 points in a 95-74 loss at Butler.  The 6-11 freshman ranks third in the league in scoring at 16.8 and first in rebounding at 9.8. 
   
BIG EAST Honor Roll
Roosevelt Jones, Butler, G, Sr.
Averaged 17.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists in a 2-0 week.  Had 20 points in a win against Seton Hall and 15 points, six rebounds and six assists in a victory over Marquette.
 
Kris Dunn, Providence, G, Jr.
Averaged 15 points, 8.5 assists and 5.0 rebounds in a 2-0 week. Had 13 points and 11 assists in a win at St. John's.
   
Isaiah Whitehead, Seton Hall, G, So.
Averaged 30.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.0 blocks in a 1-1 week.  Recorded consecutive career scoring highs with 27 points in a loss at Butler and 33 points in a win at DePaul.
 
Kris Jenkins, Villanova, F, Jr.
Averaged 24.0 points and 5.0 rebounds in a 2-0 week.  Scored 31 points in a victory at DePaul, which included 8-of-14 from 3-point range.
 
Myles Davis, Xavier, G, Jr.
Scored 24 points, including 5-of-8 from 3-point range, and dished seven assists in a win against Creighton.
