De Veer, Morozova Earn Weekly BIG EAST Tennis Honors

NEW YORK – DePaul’s Nathan de Veer was named the BIG EAST Men’s Tennis Player of the Week and St. John’s Anna Morozova picked up the BIG EAST Women’s Tennis Player of the Week award, the conference announced on Wednesday.
 
BIG EAST Men’s Tennis Player of the Week

De Veer was one of two DePaul players to notch victories in both singles and doubles action in the Blue Demons’ 4-3 victory over Xavier. With the win, DePaul is 2-0 in the BIG EAST. In singles action, de Veer defeated Gabriel Chaves Araujo 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5. In doubles, the junior paired with Sten Leusink to defeat Jeremy Schneider and Arthur Stefani 6-4 at No. 2.
 
BIG EAST Women’s Tennis Player of the Week
Anna Morozova, St. John’s, Jr.
Morozova went unbeaten in singles and doubles action last week, leading the Red Storm to victories over BIG EAST foes Marquette and Seton Hall. Against the Golden Eagles, she paired with Natallia Vavulina to win 6-0 at No. 1 doubles and won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2 singles, capping 6-1 St. John’s match triumph. Against Seton Hall, she won 6-0 at No. 1 doubles with Vavulina and won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 singles as the Johnnies won the match 7-0.
