NEW YORK  –  St. John’s senior attackman Eric DeJohn was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week after an eight-point game against Villanova. Trevor Baptiste was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week after another 20-plus faceoff win performance to give Denver possession and win 17-7 at Providence.
 
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Eric DeJohn, St. John’s,  RS-Sr., A
Despite the loss to No. 18 Villanova, DeJohn netted a weekly league-best eight points on four goals and four assists. DeJohn’s four goals were a season high for the redshirt senior. DeJohn’s efforts fell short as the Wildcats won 18-13.
 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Trevor Baptiste, Denver, So., FOS
Baptiste won 20-of-23 faceoffs and picked up 11 ground balls, a league best for the week, in Denver’s 17-7 win on Saturday over Providence. Baptiste had had 20+ faceoff wins in eight career games.
 
BIG EAST Lacrosse Weekly Honor Roll
Brendan Bomberry, Denver, So. M
Scored his second career hat trick to lead Denver in scoring against Providence, scored his tenth man-up goal of the season in the victory. Bomberry had three goals and an assist.
 
Will Mazzone, Providence, Sr., A
Had five goals and two assists in an 0-2 week for the Friars. His seven points came against two top-3 nationally ranked teams for the week.
 
Justin Corpolongo, St. John’s, So., FOS
Won 17-of-32 faceoffs in the 18-13 loss to Villanova. He added seven ground balls in the FO wins and notched a goal and added two assist.
 
Johnny Gallway, Villanova, R., A
Gallway had a hat trick during the second half of Villanova’s 18-13 win over St. John’s with two goals coming back-to-back within 30 seconds of each other. His first goal of the game was the 50th of his career.
 
John Moderski, Villanova, Sr., D
Moderski had a team-best three caused turnovers and five ground balls in an 18-13 win over St. John’s.
