Marquette Dominates Field Weekly Honors, Providence and DePaul Split Final Track Awards
NEW YORK – On Tuesday, the BIG EAST announced its final BIG EAST Track & Field Weekly honors. Marquette swept the field awards as Max Bullard was named Men’s Field Athlete of the Week and Maya Marion earned the honor on the women’s side. Providence’s Julian Oakley was named BIG EAST Track Athlete of the Week for the first time this spring and DePaul’s Tayler Whittler was named BIG EAST Women’s Track Athlete of the Week for the second time.
The BIG EAST Outdoor Track & Field Championships Presented by the Jeep Brand will take place Friday, May 13 and Saturday, May 14 in Geneva, Ohio at the Spire Institute.
BIG EAST Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
JULIAN OAKLEY, Providence, Jr., Middle Distance
Julian Oakley marked the top 1,500-meter time in the BIG EAST and the 40th best time in the NCAA as he finished second at the Wolf Pack Last Chance meet in North Carolina. His finish of 3:42.99 was a personal best and is also the 21st best time in the East.
BIG EAST Men’s Field Athlete of the Week
MAX BULLARD, Marquette, So., Throws
Bullard put himself at the top of the BIG EAST shot put leaderboard following a personal-best and fifth-place finish at the Wisconsin Twilight meet with a mark of 16.73 meters (54 feet, 10.75 inches). His throw ranks 76th in the West Region. He also contributed solid marks in the discus (43.82 meters) and hammer throw (47.44 meters).
BIG EAST Women’s Track Athlete of the Week
TAYLER WHITTLER, DePAUL, Sr., Sprints
Whittler broke her own program record, recording a winning time of 11.60 at the Illinois Open on Wednesday. The senior topped her previous best by 0.02 seconds. Her time tops the BIG EAST list by .12 seconds, 49th in the West region and 100th nationally.

MAYA MARION, Marquette, So., Throws
Marion set herself up in the top spot on the BIG EAST shot put leaderboard for this season after setting a personal-best with a throw of 14.93 meters (48 fee, 11.75 inches). Her throw placed her fifth at the Wisconsin Twilight meet on Friday. She also recorded a fifth place finish in the hammer throw (48.07 meters) and took 11th in the discus (39.80 meters).
