BIG EAST Baseball Championship Field Determined, Top Two Seeds TBD
NEW YORK – With Friday’s 7-6 Seton Hall victory in Indianapolis, the Pirates guaranteed themselves and their New York neighbor, St. John’s a spot in the BIG EAST Championship field, regardless of play tomorrow. The Red Storm lost 8-2 in Queens to Creighton, which puts the Pirates as the No. 3 seed and St. John’s as the No. 4 seed. Xavier defeated Villanova 15-10 in Cincinnati, as the Musketeers continue to tie Creighton for league-leader at 13-4 in BIG EAST play.
Tomorrow’s games will determine seeding between the top two seeds – Xavier and Creighton. Should both teams win, the Musketeers and Bluejays will share the title and Xavier would have the No. 1 seed. Xavier won the series against Creighton 2-1 last weekend.
All three games will be at 12 p.m. with Creighton at St. John’s, Seton Hall at Butler and Villanova at Xavier.
The BIG EAST Championship presented by Jeep will take place Thursday, May 26 through Sunday, May 29 in Aberdeen, Md. at Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium, home to the Aberdeen Ironbirds. Tickets can be purchased
