Creighton, Marquette Lead MBB Attendance Again
NEW YORK – BIG EAST basketball fans continued their strong support of their respective teams in the 2015-16 season with Creighton and Marquette ranking among the top 25 schools in the nation, according to the NCAA Attendance Report.
Creighton ranked 10
th in home attendance with an average crowd of 17,065 fans at the CenturyLink Center. It’s the fifth straight season the Bluejays have been ranked in the top 10. Marquette was 21
st with an average home attendance of 13,308 at the BMO Harris Bradley Center. Marquette has been ranked among the top 25 for the last 15 seasons.
As a conference, the BIG EAST ranked fifth for a third straight year with an average attendance of 9,595. The BIG EAST Tournament was fourth among conference postseason tournaments with an average crowd of 15,644 fans at Madison Square Garden.
After Creighton and Marquette, Xavier was 41
st with an average of attendance of 10,281 at the Cintas Center. Providence ranked 44
th with an average of 9,703 fans going to the Dunkin’ Donuts Center. Georgetown finished 51
st with an average of 8,879 fans at the Verizon Center.
Butler and Villanova ranked 58
th and 59
th, respectively. Butler averaged 8,164 fans at Hinkle Fieldhouse, while Villanova averaged 8,119 fans while playing 13 games at The Pavilion and three games at Wells Fargo Center.
Seton Hall was 67
th after averaging 7,070 fans at the Prudential Center. St. John’s was 71
st while averaging 6,944 playing home games at Madison Square Garden and Carnesecca Arena. DePaul was 95
th with an average of 5,513 fans at Allstate Arena.
