Ackerman To Speak At Sports Officiating Summit
NEW YORK – BIG EAST Commissioner Val Ackerman will speak at the National Association of Sports Officials Summit held in San Antonio, Texas, July 31-Aug. 2. The NASO Summit annually attracts more than 500 sports officials and administrators from the college, professional and high school levels.
Ackerman will be participating in a panel called Top Management Talks Officiating on Tuesday, Aug. 2 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in San Antonio. She will be joined by: David Gardi, NFL Senior Vice President of Football Operations; Bob Delaney, NBA Vice President of Referee Operations; Joe Garagiola, Jr., MLB Senior Vice President of Standards and On-Field Operations and Dr. Harold Slemmer, Executive Director of the Arizona Interscholastic Association.
Ackerman and the panelists will speak about their respective officiating programs in regards to expectations and accountability, among other topics.
Recently, the BIG EAST announced the formation of a men’s basketball officiating alliance with the Atlantic Coast Conference. The alliance also includes the Atlantic 10 Conference and the Colonial Athletic Association.
