Frank Supovitz To Assist BIG EAST As Event Consultant
NEW YORK – The BIG EAST Conference has retained Frank Supovitz, who previously held senior events posts for the NFL and NHL, to assist in the planning of the 2017 BIG EAST Men’s Basketball Tournament. The tournament, which will be played at Madison Square Garden on March 8-11, 2017, will celebrate its 35th anniversary at the World’s Most Famous Arena. It remains the longest-running college basketball tournament played at a single venue.
“The 35th edition of our men’s basketball tournament at MSG will be a milestone event for the BIG EAST, and Frank’s expertise and creativity will be of great help as we look to stage an especially memorable experience for our student-athletes, coaches and supporters,” said BIG EAST Commissioner Val Ackerman. “The tournament has produced many magic moments over the past three decades, and we look forward to celebrating -- in a big way -- BIG EAST basketball past and present and our deep ties with the Garden and New York City next March.”
“The BIG EAST Men’s Basketball Tournament will provide New Yorkers, alumni, and visiting fans with an outstanding opportunity to celebrate one of New York’s most iconic and anticipated annual sports events,” said Supovitz. “Generations of fans have enjoyed the excitement and prestige of the BIG EAST Tournament at Madison Square Garden, and I am looking forward to working with the Conference staff and its partners to present the compelling story of New York’s greatest basketball tradition.”
