BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
Grace Damaska, Georgetown, Sr., F
Damaska lit up the back of the scoreboard this week with five combined goals, sparking Georgetown to a 2-0 mark. Against Delaware on Thursday, Damaska recorded a natural hat trick, beating the keeper in the fourth, 51
st and 67
th minute en route to the 4-0 victory over the Blue Hens. Against Colorado College on Sunday, Damaska was back at it, recording goals just over 10 minutes apart in the second half, boosting the Hoyas to a 4-1 win. For the season, Damaska trails only teammate Rachel Corboz (13) for the league lead in points with 12, all coming off goals.
BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Elizabeth Wenger, Georgetown, Jr., D
Wenger anchored a defensive unit which limited opponents to just seven total shots and one goal last week as Georgetown won tilts against Delaware and Colorado College. Wenger and the back line held the Tigers to just one shot on Sunday, while the junior also supplied an assist in the win, feeding Grace Damaska in the 66
th minute of the 4-1 victory.
BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week
Anna MacLean, Seton Hall, So., GK
MacLean helped keep Army West Point off the scoreboard for nearly 97 minutes in The Hall’s lone game of the week, making three saves in the 1-0 overtime win over the Black Knights. Monday’s shutout was the second career clean sheet for MacLean.
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Emily Hess, Marquette, Fr., D/M
Hess made her first two collegiate starts and chipped in a goal and assist as Marquette picked up victories over Illinois State and Michigan. The newcomer contributed on three of Marquette’s four goals during the week, scoring on a corner kick at ISU and posting an assist on Molly Pfeiffer’s match winner against the Wolverines on Sunday. She also drew the foul on Sunday against U of M that allowed Morgan Proffitt to tally the equalizer on a penalty kick in the 51st minute.
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Anna Maria Baldursdottir, St. John’s, So., D
Baldursdottir helped keep RV/- St. John’s unbeaten by limiting opponents to just five total shots in a pair of double-overtime draws last week. The sophomore helped the Red Storm to a 39-5 advantage in shots in draws at Towson and Loyola-Maryland.
Kathryn Hiller, Providence, Grad., M
In a 1-1 week for the Friars, Hiller provided both goals Providence scored, including Sunday’s game winner against Maine. The graduate student scored against Northeastern in Thursday’s double-overtime setback before notching the go-ahead goal in the 38
th minute against the Bears.
Caeley Lordemann, Creighton, Fr., M
In a 1-1 week for the Bluejays, Lordemann scored a pair of goals highlighted by Friday’s game winner against Nebraska-Omaha. The rookie beat the keeper in the 69
th minute to break the 1-1 tie. Lordemann provided Creighton’s lone goal in a setback to Iowa State on Sunday.
Siobhan McGovern, Seton Hall, Fr., F/M
McGovern supplied the overtime game winner Monday at Army West Point, beating the keeper in the 97
th minute to boost Seton Hall to the 1-0 victory. The rookie had five shots on the night, including four on target.
Morgan Proffitt, Marquette, Sr., D/M
Proffitt was active on both sides of the field during Marquette’s 2-0 week, limiting foes to just one goal apiece while supplying the game-tying score in the 51
st minute against Michigan in Sunday’s home opener.
