Butler President Danko Named To NCAA Presidential Forum
NEW YORK – The BIG EAST Conference announced today that Butler University President James Danko has been re-appointed as the conference’s representative on the NCAA Division I Presidential Forum.
The Presidential Forum consists of one President or Chancellor from each of the 32 NCAA Division I Conferences and serves as the division’s primary presidential advisory body. The Forum is charged with addressing future issues, challenges and opportunities regarding intercollegiate athletics and its relationship to higher education and was created to facilitate presidential leadership of athletics at the campus, conference and national levels.
“We are very fortunate to have President Danko representing the BIG EAST on this important and influential body within the NCAA governance structure,” said BIG EAST Commissioner Val Ackerman. “His knowledge, leadership and experience in higher education will be invaluable as the Forum looks to devise thoughtful and innovative approaches to the complex array of challenges confronting intercollegiate athletics.”
Danko previously was a member of the NCAA Presidential Advisory Group. He has served as the 21
st President of Butler since 2011 and oversaw the school’s move to the BIG EAST Conference in 2013. Before coming to Butler, Danko served as Dean of the Villanova University School of Business.
