Georgetown climbs up to No. 18 in NSCAA Top 25 and No. 9 in Soccer America.

BIG EAST Notes - 9.14
National Update

Following Georgetown’s 3-2 win over then-No. 3/3 Virginia, the Hoyas jumped from receiving votes to No. 18 in Tuesday’s NSCAA Top 25 poll. GU, which shows a 6-1-0 record, climbed from No. 20 to No. 9 in Tuesday’s Soccer America poll. St. John’s continued to receive votes in the NSCAA poll following a 0-1-1 trip to the West Coast last weekend. The Hoyas will face yet another top-ranked team this week when they travel to No. 2/1 West Virginia on Sunday for their final non-conference match.

Winding Down
Non-conference play begins to wind down this week as nine of 10 teams will play their final non-league tilts on Sunday. DePaul is the lone squad to play into next week as the Blue Demons travel to Western Michigan on Friday before hosting Loyola next Wednesday. League teams have combined for a 36-27-12 (.560) mark this season, including a 20-12-4 record at home, with 18 regular-season games still remaining. The BIG EAST posted a .560 final mark in 2015, which included three NCAA Tournament contests.

BEDN Debut
The BIG EAST Digital Network, home of 225 live events during the 2016-17 season, will stream its first game of the year on Friday when Providence field hockey visits Temple. Women’s soccer will make its debut on BEDN a week from Saturday (and Sunday) as all five BIG EAST openers will be available on the FOX Sports GO platform. In total, 35 regular-season women’s soccer matches will stream on BEDN, including all games during the final two weeks of the regular season as squads jockey for postseason invitations.
