As Georgetown’s game at No. 12 Rutgers on Friday night went to overtime, Hoyas Head Coach Dave Nolan said he felt it was going to come down to either one mistake or a great goal. And less than a minute into overtime, Nolan was right, as Georgetown junior midfielder Rachel Corboz delivered a strike from 22 yards out, lifting the Hoyas to a 2-1 win over the 12th-ranked Scarlet Knights at Yurcak Field. It was the third-straight win for the Hoyas, who improve to 4-1-0 overall. Rutgers falls to 3-1-1.

Butler 2, SMU 1
It didn't take long for BU to get going offensively against the Mustangs. Alex Holmes sliced through the defense during the fifth minute of play, firing a shot that would miss. The rebound was then grabbed by Maria Collica who quickly passed to Serina Kashimoto who slipped the ball past the goalkeeper for her third goal of the season just before the sixth minute of the match. Goalkeeper Hannah Luedtke and the defensive unit would see action early as well. Just after the 11th minute of the match SMU, a high-octane offensive unit, got their first shot off missing wide with a header. Butler would hold SMU to no goals in the first half, with Luedtke credited for a save in the 24th minute of action.

Xavier 3, Dayton 1
The win, fueled by a pair of second half goals by Samantha Dewey, marks the first time Xavier has topped Dayton in women's soccer since 2000, breaking a streak of 14 straight losses to the Flyers in the first official match between the two programs since Xavier joined the BIG EAST in 2013. The win marks the first win at Dayton since 1998 when Xavier topped the Flyers on penalty kicks in the Atlantic 10 Tournament Championship game, earning the program's first berth to the NCAA Tournament.

9/24 Minnesota 5, Villanova 0
Villanova fell to No. 24/9 Minnesota on Friday afternoon in Durham, N.C. The contest marked the first game of the Duke Tournament featuring the Wildcats, Gophers, North Carolina Tar Heels, and Duke Blue Devils. Minnesota led 3-0 at halftime following early back-to-back goals from April Bocken and one from Julianna Gernes later in the first half. The Gophers extended their lead in the second stanza off of goals from Simone Kolander and Josee Stiever. Stiever’s goal in the 71st minute would be the final of the contest for the 5-0 win over Villanova.

St. John’s 2, Yale 0
Led by goals from Samie Scaffidi and Claudia Cagnina, the St. John's women's soccer team continued its undefeated 2016 campaign with a 2-0 defeat of Yale on Friday night at Reese Stadium. Diana Poulin proved spectacular in net once again for the Red Storm (3-0-2), notching her NCAA-leading fourth shutout of the season. The two-time reigning BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year recorded two saves for the Red Storm, who defensive unit allowed only seven shots in total on the evening. Poulin now has 24 clean sheets for her career, good enough for second in school history behind Kristin Russell (2008-11) and only eight shutouts away from tying for the top spot on that list.

DePaul 1, Hofstra 1 (2OT)
Taylor Schissler came through right when the Blue Demons needed her the most on Friday night. With DePaul trailing by a goal for well into the second half, Schissler took a pass from Abby Reed and scored from the middle of the field in the 77th minute for a 1-1, double-overtime tie against Hofstra at the Army West Point Fall Classic. The Blue Demons (0-2-2) had fallen behind one-nil in the 30th minute when Jill Mulholland gathered a loose ball in the 18-yard box and fired in her fourth goal of the season from the center.

Creighton 1, Kansas State 1 (2OT)
After seizing a 1-0 lead in the sixth minute, the Creighton women's soccer team was forced to settle for a 1-1 draw with Kansas State on Friday, Sept. 2. Following Friday's action the Bluejays are 2-1-2 on the season, while Kansas State moved to 1-2-2. A tandem of freshman put Creighton on the board as Taryn Jakubowski from deep in the Bluejay offense along the right side into the penalty box. With the Wildcats' defense closing in, she centered a pass to Caeley Lordemann outside the top of the box. The Colorado native drove home the goal from 25-yards out, tallying her team-leading third goal of the season.
