Commissioner Ackerman Featured Panelist at 2016 Sports Business Journal Game Changers Conference
NEW YORK, N.Y. – BIG EAST Commissioner Val Ackerman will be a speaker at the fourth annual Sports Business Journal Game Changers Conference on Sept. 15, held at the New York Marriott Marquis in Times Square.
The Game Changers Conference is a one-day event that will focus on the multiple ways in which women intersect with sports. Built into the program are ample networking opportunities, including a networking reception at the conclusion of the event where the current year’s honorees will be recognized.
Ackerman’s featured panel is called “From the C-Suite: Leadership, Perseverance and the Growing Role of Women in Sports Business,” focusing on multiple ways in which women intersect with sports, why it is important to have women represented at all tiers within an organization and how the industry as a whole can perform better on the diversity front. Ackerman is joined by a cross-section of senior executives who have risen through the ranks inside and outside of sports, including: Katrina Adams, Chairman, CEO and President of the USTA; Lisa Baird, Chief Marketing Officer of the U.S. Olympic Committee; Jill Gregory, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of Nascar; Dawn Hudson, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for the NFL and Michelle Wilson, Chief Revenue and Marketing Officer for the WWE.
Coinciding with the conference, the Sports Business Journal will publish their fifth annual Game Changers/Women in Sports Business special feature on Sept. 12. Ackerman penned a column for the 2015 publication which examined the ascension of women to sports leadership roles. Ackerman was also a featured panelist at the2013 and 2014 SBJ Game Changers Conferences.
