Keep It Rolling
More than half the league boasts multiple-game winning or unbeaten streaks including conference leader St. John’s. The Red Storm show a 4-0-2 mark and are coming off back-to-back victories. Winners of three straight, Georgetown, is 4-1 overall and broke into the
Soccer America Top 25 this week at No. 20. The Hoyas continue to receive votes in the NSCAA Top 25. Providence has also won three straight by a combined 8-0 margin. Xavier matches GU and the Johnnies for the conference lead with four wins, topping Northern Kentucky last night for its second straight victory. Creighton and DePaul are also coming off victories and are both unbeaten over their last two tilts.
Statistical Leaders
Georgetown’s Rachel Corboz and Grace Damaska are tied for the BIG EAST lead with six goals apiece, with Corboz edging her fellow Hoya for the top points average thanks to her conference-best six assists. Georgetown is the only team in the nation to have two players ranked in the top ten among all Division I players in points and goals per game.
X Marks The Spot
Following Tuesday’s win over Northern Kentucky, Xavier improved to 4-1-1 on the year for its best start since 2013. The 2013 campaign was the Musketeers’ first as a member of the BIG EAST Conference as they went 7-1-1 during non-conference play, including a 5-0-1 mark through their first six tilts. XU still has four non-conference matches remaining on its schedule, including Friday against Duquesne. The Duquesne match will be played on Cincinnati’s campus due to flooding at the Xavier Soccer Complex.
